This project for the most part surveys the post-industrial area where I live. At the intersection where the Sirhowy Valley and the Ebbw Valley meet, lies a mountain called Mynydd Y Lan. A mountain, or hill, of some 1250 ft high. It is not particularly tall, but in the winter months, the shadow it casts is all-encompassing and is felt by the local population. In the height of winter, the sun will rise at 11:00 and will have disappeared behind the right-hand ridge by 14:00. I have engaged with the weight of this shadow as a metaphor for what is felt by those that endure it.
